"Education is the key to unlocking the golden door of freedom." - George Washington Carver
I am writing this letter to express my sincere interest in obtaining a study permit to pursue a Bachelor of Business Administration (Project Management) at Yorkville University in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. This esteemed program aligns perfectly with my academic and career aspirations.
The field of Business Administration has intrigued me since my initial exposure to its fundamentals during my college courses. Furthermore, my experience as a Senior Marketing Officer at a reputable Co-operative Company has solidified my passion for this field. As I reflect on my journey thus far, I am resolute in my decision to prioritize my career goals and strive for excellence.
Through thorough research and exploration, I have come to appreciate the rewarding and indispensable nature of a project management career within the BBA field. This realization has fueled my determination to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, specializing in Project Management. With this degree, I aim to acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in this dynamic industry and ultimately make a positive impact upon my return to Nepal.
Allow me to introduce myself formally. My name is Mr. Madhu Sudhan Thapa, born on 28th September 2002, and my passport number is PA000000, issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Department of Passports. Currently, I reside in Dandaban, Chandrakot 4, Gulmi. I am writing to express my sincere interest in enrolling in the Bachelor of Business Administration (Project Management) program at Yorkville University in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. As an ambitious international student, I am eager to convey my strong motivation and purpose for pursuing this program and applying for a study permit to further my education in Canada.
Academic background and English language proficiency:
In terms of my academic background, I completed my Secondary Educational Examination at Siddhartha English Boarding School. Continuing my education, I enrolled in Oxford English Boarding Secondary School, a renowned private school located in Butwal for my Intermediate level. Throughout my academic journey, I consistently achieved impressive GPAs: 3.15 in grade 10, 2.72 in grade 11, and 3.44 in grade 12, which was completed in 2020. Notably, my academic performance earned me an 80% scholarship during my intermediate level. Although the medium of instruction was English, I proactively sought opportunities to enhance my language proficiency. Consequently, I took the highly accepted language proficiency test, IELTS, on May 20, 2023, and obtained an overall band score of 7 out of 9. My individual band scores were as follows: Listening: 8, Speaking: 6.5, Reading: 7.5, and Writing: 6.5. This accomplishment is a testament to my dedication to self-improvement and my commitment to excellence.
Work Experience:
I have been considered a responsible individual since my childhood. In various events and festivals within my neighborhood and school, I have been entrusted with the role of managing everything. The trust I have gained from people has greatly influenced my career choices. Due to my physical fitness and ability to handle responsibilities effectively, I am often considered the most reliable person wherever I go.
Upon completing my studies at Oxford College, Butwal, Nepal, I was introduced by my accounting teacher, Dinesh Giri, to one of his colleagues, Mr. Siddhartha Pandey, who manages Aagantuk Saving & Credit Co-Operative Ltd. I received a job offer as a Junior Marketing Officer. Within a year, I was promoted to the position of Senior Marketing Officer and entrusted with the task of supervising three junior marketing officers. My experience at Aagantuk Saving & Credit Co-Operative Ltd. from September 20, 2020, until the present has been invaluable and has taught me a great deal. However, I do not wish to limit myself. Therefore, I am seeking to pursue courses that are relevant to my studies, work, and experiences in order to enhance my skills in the field of business.
Reason for choosing Bachelor of Business Administration (Project Management):
During my intermediate education, I developed a strong interest in the field of business due to its significant role in the global economy. My management curriculum exposed me to subjects like Economics, Marketing, and Accounting, which fueled my desire to pursue a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree. I faced a challenge when choosing a specialization for my degree, as there were various options available, including Project Management, Entrepreneurship, Human Resource Management, and Business and Finance Management offered by different institutions. Each specialization presented intriguing opportunities for further growth and exploration in the business field.
After seeking guidance from my instructors and mentors, I have made the decision to pursue a Bachelor of Business Administration with a specialization in Project Management. I have several reasons for choosing this specialization. Project Management is a comprehensive field that encompasses various areas such as HR Management, Marketing, and Resource Management. My previous experience and relevance to this course will facilitate my understanding of the course materials and terminology. Additionally, the course modules offered by the program, such as Marketing Strategy, Economics, Accounting, Introduction to Marketing, and Corporate Finance, align with the subjects I studied at the intermediate level. However, this program goes beyond providing basic knowledge and offers a deeper understanding of the current industry requirements.
Upon completing this course, I expect to be capable of efficiently carrying out diverse operations. Businesses are increasingly organizing tasks into projects due to the growing trend of expanding operations. A skilled Project Manager plays a vital role in leading these projects. The BBA in Project Management program consists of modules such as General Business Education, Core Business Courses, Integrative Project-Based Courses, and more, each with various sub-components. By successfully completing this course, I am confident that I will possess the necessary skills to manage a wide range of operations.
In my current position as a Senior Marketing Officer at Aagantuk Saving & Credit Co-operative Ltd, I have actively contributed to several successful marketing campaigns led by our senior executives. I envision myself as a Project Leader upon graduating from this course. Therefore, obtaining a degree in this field will open up several opportunities, including roles such as Business Project Manager and Scrum Master, Project Director, and Business Executive.
Career Opportunities after graduating with Bachelors of Business Administration (Project Management)
Based on prior research, I have extensively explored the course, its potential outcomes, and the university offering it before applying to study in Canada. I have carefully considered the career opportunities that this course will open up for me upon graduation. The Bachelor of Business Administration (Project Management) program I have chosen is designed to meet the current needs of the industry. Each module within the curriculum is meticulously crafted to equip me with the necessary skills for various business operations. I am confident that this course will significantly broaden my horizons and pave the way for a successful career in high-demand roles, including: Project Coordinator, Program Manager, Project Leader and Project Director.
Reason for choosing Yorkville University:
After extensive research, I discovered several institutions and schools offering degrees in Business Administration. I kept narrowing my list based on location, quality of education, affordability, facilities provided, diversity, and so on.
After carefully considering the merit points, I have determined that Yorkville University is an excellent choice that aligns with my needs and preferences. One of the reasons why I believe Yorkville University stands out is because its programs are designed to support students like me in achieving both personal and professional goals. In particular, their Bachelor of Business Administration in Project Management has been developed in accordance with the requirements set by the Project Management Institute (PMI), the world's leading organization in project management. One noteworthy aspect of this program is that it provides a pathway for graduates to obtain both a BBA degree and prestigious PMI certifications such as the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) and Project Management Professional (PMP). Additionally, graduates from Yorkville University have the opportunity to engage in volunteer work through PMI-Toronto, allowing them to apply their knowledge in practical settings. Furthermore, Yorkville University offers a range of academic and non-academic facilities and services to support students like me. These include access to a library, financial aid or scholarships, distance learning opportunities, and administrative services. In my case, I have been fortunate enough to receive a scholarship of CAD$10,000 for the Bachelor of Business (Project Management) program. Moreover, the university emphasizes hands-on, applied learning through internships and research projects, which I believe will contribute significantly to my overall personal and professional growth. Taking all these factors into account, I am confident that choosing Yorkville University will not only provide me with a high-quality education but also contribute to my overall personality development.
Reason for not choosing Nepal:
Nepal, being a developing country, offers numerous opportunities for ambitious individuals like myself who aspire to achieve success. However, there are still several areas in the field of education that need further development. While there are universities in Nepal that offer business administration courses, such as Tribhuvan University, Pokhara University, Purbanchal University, and Kathmandu University, these universities have limited capacity with only one intake per year. This results in intense competition among students who must appear for entrance exams and secure high scores to secure one of the limited available seats, which can be quite challenging. Moreover, the courses and curriculum offered by these universities require revision to meet the standards of higher education in the present day. Additionally, the universities in Nepal would greatly benefit from more resources for research. There is a need for increased access to learning materials, fewer theoretical classes, and the implementation of modern teaching techniques to enhance the quality of education provided by these institutions. Thus I decided to not to study in Nepal for my further Education.
Reason for Choosing Canada:
Canada stood out as the ideal destination for my further studies, combining various appealing factors that set it apart from other options. Firstly, Canada is renowned for its high-ranked universities and professional faculty, which ensure a quality education. The country's innovative and quality-driven environment fosters learning through cutting-edge technology and digital media, equipping students with valuable transferable skills.
One aspect that particularly attracted me to Canada is its globally recognized degrees. Canadian degrees hold equivalent recognition to those obtained from other English-speaking countries like the USA and Australia, but at a generally more affordable cost for international students. The lower cost of living and tuition fees compared to other destinations made studying in Canada an economically viable choice.
Safety was another crucial consideration, and Canada's reputation as a safe destination for international students offered peace of mind. The country boasts a remarkable global peace index ranking of 12, far surpassing that of the USA (129) and Australia (27). This factor, along with its multicultural nature, made me feel at home. Like Nepal, Canada embraces diversity, creating a welcoming environment where different cultures coexist harmoniously.
Furthermore, Canada's bilingual environment presents a unique opportunity to develop language skills. English and French coursework, integral parts of the Canadian education system, not only enhance language proficiency but also enrich cultural and community life.Choosing Canada for my studies means benefiting from a combination of quality education, affordable living costs, a multicultural environment, and a peaceful society. With Canada's renowned universities, professional faculty, and emphasis on transferable skills, I am confident that my academic journey in Canada will lead to personal growth and provide a solid foundation for an exciting career ahead.

Career Goal and Incentives to Return Back to Nepal:
My primary objective has always been to make a meaningful contribution to the progress of my home country, Nepal. Upon completing my studies successfully, my plan is to return to Nepal and actively participate in its growth and development. I aim to pursue career opportunities in project management, project coordination, business analysis, operations management, consulting, and entrepreneurship. While there are various avenues available to me, I am particularly interested in working as a project manager within a government organization. Nepal, being a developing nation, presents numerous prospects for project managers in sectors such as infrastructure development, urban planning, energy initiatives, information technology, and more. Notably, governmental agencies like the National Planning Commission, Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Ministry of Urban Development, Ministry of Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation, and Ministry of Information and Communications offer substantial employment opportunities for project managers.
To secure a position in a government organization, I need to successfully pass the Loksewa examination, which serves as the primary gateway for government job placements. Therefore, my plan involves thorough preparation for this examination. Concurrently, I will seek entry-level project management roles in various companies to gain relevant work experience. Once I attain a project manager position within a government organization, my responsibilities will encompass overseeing projects from inception to completion. Given the tendency for projects in Nepal to exceed estimated timelines, I am determined to identify underlying causes and implement effective solutions to ensure timely project delivery. I will leverage the knowledge and skills acquired through my studies at Yorkville University to contribute to Nepal's advancement.
After successfully managing a series of projects, my long-term vision is to establish my own organization, leveraging the valuable connections established throughout my journey. This organization will focus on generating innovative project ideas to drive the development of rural areas in Nepal. Given the diverse geographical regions and their unique characteristics, our company will conduct extensive research on rural regions, creating comprehensive plans and projects aimed at their development. Subsequently, we will present these proposals to government bodies, NGOs, and relevant organizations dedicated to such developmental work. Through this venture, my goal is to contribute to sustainable growth in underdeveloped regions of Nepal.
In addition to my career aspirations, I am committed to providing care and support to my parents as they grow older. They have always been supportive of my dreams, and I believe it is my duty to reciprocate their love and support during their golden years. Spending quality time with them and ensuring their well-being will be a priority for me.
By combining my professional goals, dedication to Nepal's development, and commitment to family, I aspire to make a positive impact on both personal and societal levels.
