Statement of purpose for studying bachelor of Canada at university of Canada west UCW
To The Canadian Visa Officer, Canadian High Commision, New Delhi
Subject: Statement of purpose to explain my future study plans and career aspirations to support my genuine intentions of studying in Canada and returning back to my country on completing my study.
Respected Sir,
I am writing this letter with my application for a student visa to study Bachelor of Commerce at University Of Canada West (UCW).
Introduction
I am Samip Karki, the 18-year-old son of Mr Padam Karki and Mrs Sumitra Karki, who currently reside in Galkot Municipality-1, Baglung. My father is a businessman, and my mother is a social worker and agriculturist.
I completed my secondary education level (Grade -10) in 2022 from Dudilabhati English School, Dudilabhati with a GPA of 3.70. After finishing Grade -10, I decided to pursue a field of study that would allow me to pursue my goal of becoming a businessman and gain a better understanding of the business world. So I decided to study Commerce at Omega International College in Lalitpur. At Omega, I completed my Grade 12 with a 3.50 GPA across four major subjects (Business,
Economics , Accountancy and English). I intend to continue my further education in Canada. So, I took the IELTS exam and received an overall band of 6.5, with subbands of 7.0 on listening, 6.0 on reading, 6.0 on writing, and 6.0 on speaking.
Beside this,I also have the knowledge of computer programming languages such as Java,c++,Javascript etc and also have little knowledge of Ethical Hacking. I have worked as a marketing manager in DA VANCI TOURS&TRAVEL for couple of month .
Why not study in Nepal ?
After finishing my higher secondary education in Commerce, I began looking for colleges and universities in Nepal that offered business courses, and I discovered that there were many options in my home country. Bachelor of commerce and business courses were available, with a variety of major specialisations. Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu University, Pokhara University, and Purbanchal University provided a wide range of courses through their colleges and affiliated colleges. Nonetheless, I decided to continue my studies from abroad. My decision to study abroad was motivated by a number of factors that kept me away from Nepali institutions.
Although several universities provided commerce courses, almost all of them were heavily theoretical in nature and rarely provided practical application of the theories taught in the classrooms. Furthermore, the courses are rarely updated to meet the constantly evolving world in which new theories and strategies are constantly being adapted by business entities all over the world. As a result, graduates of the courses are left with theories that are out of date, archaic, and incapable of meeting the standards of the business field, which requires skilled workers who can cope with the rapidly changing business world. Resulting in the graduates of local universities unable to gain a foothold in the business field after the graduation.
Nepal is also a developing country that is catching up to the rest of the world. It is becoming increasingly connected to the rest of the world and the global economy. This link to the global economy will necessitate skilled human resources in various sectors, particularly the business field, who are adaptable to the global market and have current knowledge, skills, and strategies.
Furthermore, international graduates are given preferential treatment over national graduates in Nepal because graduates from internationally recognised institutions are more adept and knowledgeable about the latest technology, new strategies, and skills being adopted by multinational corporations in developed countries such as Canada. As a result, as a graduate of a Canadian international institution, I will be better equipped with the necessary knowledge and practical experience, allowing me to gain a stronger foothold in the business fields back home.
Therefore, I decided to think out of the box and choose a top study destination like Canada instead of my home country for better qualifications, quality academic experience and excellent life experience.
Why Canada?
Canada is one of the world's most remarkable destinations for higher education. It is on par with other student destinations such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, and other European countries. I researched other countries before deciding on Canada as my destination to pursue my bachelor's degree, but I ultimately chose Canada because it was the best fit for me.
Academic excellence and industry-based research have earned Canadian institutions international acclaim. Furthermore, among English-speaking countries, Canada is one of the most popular destinations for International Students pursuing higher education due to the wide range of courses available at Canadian institutions. Furthermore, Canadian cities have a global reputation for being among the safest and most affordable places to live when compared to major cities in other developed countries.
In terms of tuition and living expenses, Canada is more affordable than other countries. It provides a quality education in a safer environment at an affordable price for an international student from Nepal like me.
Furthermore, Canada is regarded as a friendly country with a diverse culture and friendly and welcoming natives. Its multicultural society is ideal for international students who want to study in peace and quiet, which is why I chose University of Canada West in Canada as my study destination.
Why University of Canada West (UCW)?
There are numerous colleges and universities that offer Bachelor of Commerce degrees in Canada, but after conducting extensive research, I realised that there were many things I was looking for and was confused. I then looked up the world rankings of Canadian universities, as well as the safe environment, affordable tuition, and relevant courses, and discovered that University Of Canada West (UCW) is the best fit for my needs.
UCW Vancouver has a clear vision: to be a leading, respected independent university in Canada and around the world, recognised for innovation and effectiveness in preparing motivated students for professional-level careers and societal leadership. The learning environment at UCW Vancouver is both dynamic and practical. The QS Stars higher education rating system, the world's most popular source of comparative data on university performance, awarded UCW 5 stars in September 2021. UCW is only the third university in Canada to receive a 5-star rating from QS Stars, and the first in British Columbia. Only seven institutions in the United States and Canada have received a 5 Star rating.
Dr. David Strong, an accomplished academic and distinguished scientist who served as President of the University of Victoria for more than a decade, founded UCW Vancouver in 2004. The vision was to establish an autonomous, accessible university with a practical focus and a focus on teaching excellence.
UCW is a business and technology-focused university where students are taught by qualified, expert faculty with real-world industry experience. It can meet my desire to study a world-class curriculum in business management. Furthermore, as an elective option of the course, I can hone my skills in the accounting working domain. During the course, I would be given a detailed understanding of how to effectively manage a variety of business operations and processes, as well as a deep professional efficacy for scaling and operating a business across international borders.
In addition, Vancouver is one of the best places to live in Canada and one of the most liveable cities in the world. The urban campus is only a few steps from public transportation, which includes the Waterfront SkyTrain Station, bus routes, and the SeaBus terminal. Many of the world's largest corporations have offices within walking distance of the downtown campus, providing exposure to multinational corporations and assisting with adaptation to the culture and environment of developed countries.
Reason to choose Bachelor of Commerce
Commerce investigates the effects of globalisation and marketing on commercial activities and economic growth by studying the exchange of goods and services between suppliers and customers. It also covers a wide range of topics, from investment to buying and selling, from profit to sustainable business practices, from product packaging and distribution to supply and demand, and everything in between.
My desire to be a successful entrepreneur in the future led me to choose the commerce stream for my level 12 studies. To establish and successfully run a business, a thorough understanding of the fundamentals of the business field is required, which is why I chose to pursue a Bachelor of Commerce degree at the University of Canada West (UCW).
This course at UCW will provide me with the knowledge and experience I need to pursue a successful career in business or management.
The courses at UCW include Academic writing, business fundamentals, business mathematics, financial accounting, business communications, business analytics, operations management, business environment, marketing management, human resource management, management information systems, strategy and decision making, and sustainable business practices.
It will also provide students with a thorough understanding of current business practices in all areas of business management. Let me know how to conduct business in a multicultural environment, spanning international borders and working cross-culturally, and how to solve problems and create new business opportunities using interdisciplinary approaches. Allow me to use critical thinking to analyse and interpret information in order to make sound decisions.
The course will provide me with knowledge to help me develop leadership skills and the ability to strategically implement sustainable business practices. This course reinforces and advances practical skills for the real business world, as well as improving workplace and business understanding, teamwork, and communication skills which are necessary skills to gain a strong foothold in the business field after I graduate and return back to my home country.
Future career plan and incentive to return home country
The business field has now reached its peak, and a large number of skilled human resources are required each year. With constant development, the business has progressed from a local or even national level to a global level. As a result, there is a greater demand in the business sector for skilled human resources who can conduct business in a multicultural environment and across international borders.
My country is still developing, but it is catching up to the rest of the world. The economy is gradually opening up to the rest of the world, and new projects and business ventures are being launched on a regular basis in Nepal, creating numerous opportunities for skilled graduates who can keep up with global strategies and skills.
After completing my studies at UCW, I plan to return to Nepal with the knowledge, skills, and strategies, as well as exposure to the global market, that will allow me to compete in the global market. I believe that with the knowledge I gained in Canada, I will be able to advance my career in Nepal's burgeoning business field.
With my understanding of Nepali culture, business environment, and local people's thinking, as well as the knowledge and experience of global skills and strategies used in multinational corporations in developed countries, I will be able to maintain a balance between the local culture and business sector and the ever-changing global business world.
One of Nepal's most important industries is tourism. From Mt. Everest to various mountain ranges and trekking routes, Nepal is endowed with natural wonders that continue to draw tourists. Furthermore, with interesting cultural and religious sites such as Lumbini, Bhaktapur, and other places frequently visited by religious tourists, Nepal has a huge tourism potential.
My father had hoped to build hotels in various tourist areas throughout Nepal. In addition, he wished to establish Tours & Travels, which would provide affordable vehicles to tourists throughout Nepal. Finance was not a barrier for him to start the business because he comes from a business-class, financially affluent family, but he is unable to realise his dream due to a lack of proper practical knowledge, skills, and strategies that can be used in the real business world. So I decided to continue my studies in Canada, and after studying there and gaining practical business skills from the Bachelor of Commerce course, I will go home to establish my father's dream business, making him proud of me.
Furthermore, my elderly grandmother and parents have always been there for me throughout my academic career and in all of my decisions. They have put their trust in me and want to see me succeed in business and fulfil their dreams. They are looking forward to the day when they can hang the mantle and celebrate my success in their golden years. So I want to assure you that my sole intention in travelling to Canada is to obtain a quality education, and I will undoubtedly return to my home country and apply the ideas and skills that I will gain during my study tenure in Canada.
Financial Sponsorship
My family members (Grandmother, father, mother and Uncle) are willing to sponsor me during my stay in Canada while pursuing my studies. This will include my tuition fees, living costs and other expenses incurred there. My family’s combined yearly income is approx CAD 50,000. In addition ,my father has a deposit of CAD 16,477.95 in the Global IME Bank and also has a Education Loan of NPR 4500000 which is equivalent to CAD 46,201.232 from Prabhu Bank .They have also offered to sell a portion of our family property for my unexpected expenses that may occur during my stay in canada .For the first year,my parents have already paid CAD 19,905 for University’s fees .I'm hoping that my supporting documents will be sufficient proof of my parent's financial stability.
Conclusion
I am confident that my Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Canada West in Canada will enable me to have a successful career in the business world in Nepal. The business and technology courses at UCW will provide me with the skills and knowledge I need to become a tourism entrepreneur in Nepal. When I finish my studies at the University of Canada West, I plan to return to Nepal and fulfil my father's dream. So, I request you to approve my Canada study permit application, which would allow me to pursue a Bachelor of Commerce degree at the University of Canada West and provide me with the necessary professional skills for establishing and managing a business in my home country.
